Akinwunmi Ambode on Sunday expressed optimism that 2018 would be rewarding for Lagos and Nigeria, adding that the center for excellence would record landmark achievements in major sectors of the economy in the New Year.
The Lagos state governor, in his New Year message noted that although 2017 witnessed a leap in terms of infrastructural development, some of the reforms in key sectors of the economy
would fully manifest from 2018.
“We have a good reason to be very optimistic about what 2018 holds in stock for our state and every Lagosian,” Ambode stated. “The commencement of some of our reform programmes, especially in the transport, environment, tourism and health sectors will improve the quality of lives of all Lagosians. The proposed 2018 budget of N1.046 trillion will be dedicated mainly to completing projects, as well as commencing new ones. We will also strengthen the financial base of our state through various measures aimed at boosting the Internally Generated Revenue. This is achievable without necessarily increasing taxes.”
